The Eureka Sunset Bean originated in Thorndike, Maine many years ago. The story has it that the mailman gave the seed to a local farmer who grew it for years. A lady by the name of Rockwell took the bean to Washington State and grew it there for many years. A local friend and farmer acquired a bag of seed from the farmer who formerly grew it in Maine and we have been able to get this delightful bean. It has similarities to Yellow Eye, has outstanding flavor, and holds up well when cooking. If you like baked beans this one is worth trying. We bake it regularly here at the farm.
